How To Start Writing, From Someone Who Doesn’t Write

You might be wondering at this moment, “what on earth can I probably learn from someone who doesn’t even write?” In fact I believe that is exactly why I may be able to shed some light on this dilemma you may be having.

I have always dreamt of writing, I have never been good at it nor have I been confident enough to try. Often I find myself overthinking things such as grammar, formatting, vocabulary, punctuation, etc. The list can go on forever and that is just the technical aspect of writing.

If I think even further I realize I have never known why I have such an intrinsic desire to write, I have never even contemplated what I could write about; furthermore I can hardly make a case for why someone would ever care to see my perspective on any certain topic as I am certainly not an expert in anything!

Today I read “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, certainly a long overdue read. There was a line that thoroughly spoke to me, and it said:

“Do not give in to your fears, if you do you won’t be able to talk to your heart.”

That told me everything I needed to know to take a chance, to take a step and do what I wished regardless of my limitations or of whatever limitations I may even be creating for myself, up…
